If you don't mind, could you say a little prayer

Early Tuesday morning, we take Vianney to have her tonsils and adenoids out and tubes put in her ears. I know I am ridiculously over emotional, but if you would say a little prayer for her I would be most appreciative.

What breaks my heart is that she is so very sweet and I know she is going to be in pain. She just lives a happy little, easy going life and I know the pain will be hard for a while. She never causes anybody grief or rarely ever unhappy. She has no idea what is about to hit her. We have lots of fun food planned and whatever movies she wants but still.

Of course, I'm having all sorts of ridiculous last minute doubts like "she really doesn't need it" and "can't we wait just a while longer to see if her issues clear up on their own." If I didn't trust our doctor so much, I would take her and run very far away from the hospital. I am praying it is a quick procedure and she handles the anesthesia just fine.

Oh, the heartache to love a child. Thank goodness for John. I D.O. N.O.T like making these decisions. Thank you for your prayers for our sweet girl.

  1. For what it's worth, I've been there and done this (sans tonsils). Madeleine is on her second set of ear tubes and had her adenoids out in the second operation. She did react to the anesthesia in a weird way; she came out kicking and screaming and yelling, which is very unlike our Madeleine. If Vianney does this, know that it will pass and that she won't remember. They'll give her medicine to help her not remember. I will pray for Vianney, for you, and for John. If you need a little reassurance, call me!! (There are no mouse traps at the clinic, if that helps.)

  2. Lots of prayers for Vianney and your family, Lindsay. Both our boys have had tubes in (no tonsils, though). The first few hours were a little rough, but by that afternoon you couldn't hold them back...up and outside playing with Grandpa. Neither has had an ear infection since, which means the awful cycle of antibiotics is over. Probably much healthier for their little bodies in the long run. With all the love and support of you, John and her siblings, she'll do great.

  4. Oh! I can only imagine how I would feel if I were in your situation. I would be the same way. My children get common colds and I am beside myself.

Please know I will be praying for you and little Vianney. Such a strong little girl. She will recover wonderfully, I just know it. My mom always has said, "Children are strong. They bounce back much better than we do." God bless you!

  5. We will pray for Vianney and her loving parents. It is hard to see our children suffer. When you look back on it Lindsay, I think you will be amazed at all the ways God has made Himself present to you in this. He'll be there through a surgeon's skilled hands, the comforting touch of a nurse, the soothing voice of her anesthetist, the strong arms of her daddy, through the care and concern of her siblings, and so many ways known only to Him. Vianney will do well. Please keep us posted. God bless.
