Christmas in Beloit 2012

In my entire life, I've never seen a December sky look as such.
Upon arriving in Beloit, Timmy had freshly killed two raccoons.
I looked back to see Truman asleep.  Poor neck, but we didn't dare wake the sleeping giant.
Fatch taking a carseat break at a gas station.

I think we were home all of 15 minutes when the music was turned up really loud.
My parents bought this home on my 1st birthday.  In our photo albums, you can find 9 out of the 10 of us standing at this window in this same position.
What is Christmas without a little Cotton Eyed Joe?
The adults joined in.
Our Rose with Rose Eilert.
Let's see.  RISK bedtime night #1 4:30 AM, night #2 2:30 AM, and night #3 5:00 AM.  Stupid game.
One of my favorites.  Everyone getting ready for mass.
To be a child at Christmas time.  We had our big family gift exchange and they would go from person to person and hover to see what each present was and then move on.
I am 0-10 on good Christmas pictures.
We had to retrieve Truman from the manger.
Papa and his daughters.
Mammy came from Florida.  We had 8 out of 10 siblings home for Christmas.
Attempting a group shot.  FAIL.  Couldn't fit everybody into the picture.
My brother Dominic brought his girlfriend home and Truman became fast friends with her.

  1. Beautiful pictures and a beautiful family. I love the way you got your children to take a picture by the nativity scene. Our church was so crowded when we went, I forgot all about taking our children to see the nativity.

  2. How fun! Oh my goodness...your family reminds me so much of my own extended family. Makes me so homesick :) I love how involved you all are with one another...and the game?? I've never heard of it, but I know a few good men on my side that would probably love it. Merry Christmas to you!

  3. I love how John is intensely guarding his territory in Europe. I can't wait for our next encounter!

  4. Lindsay, I've been thinking about this post since I first read it...I am just fascinated by "large family" family gatherings. Thanks for giving a glimpse into a home that welcomes the noise, chaos, and even messes that come with children. What a happy, joyful place! The pic of the girls prepping for Mass is priceless.
