My Sisters and I

We ventured to my hometown of Beloit, Kansas for the 4th of July week/weekend. I am the second of ten children. Eight of the ten siblings were able to be in attendance for the festivities. My sister called a couple weeks prior hoping to take a sister picture. Sure. I can't wait. 30 weeks pregnant. I was to find something in the chosen color scheme. Sure. I can't wait. 30 weeks pregnant. I adore pictures of our children so I wasn't going to put up a fight, but I sure did mentally. I have a beautiful picture of my great-grandmother and her six sisters. I envisioned my children and their children looking back in the years to come at our picture so I was game.
In order, Damaris, Samantha, Kristin, our mother, Hilary, myself and child, Kathryn, and Kellan.

In order by birth.
I'll admit it.  I am the funniest.  We each have our unique trait that is brought to the table, but I win the funniest award.  I am told I am half Irish and half German.  I think my little genes somehow went down the all 100% Irish route.

Our sister-in-law took the pictures for us.  She has her own brood of seven sisters.
Created by my own inner psyche, I often feel the need to qualify each time that every family, every life, every homeschool, every everything isn't perfect. I sure hope that is a given. Like every family, our family has experienced numerous trials. We are all sinful human beings. We do love each other very much. I have a special love for my siblings that I share for nobody else. They love our children like no one else. I have been at a conference with the older children for three days. My sister has been caring for the little three and has sent hysterical text messages all day regarding the funny things each child was doing or how adorable little Damaris was. They have a love for my children like I do. I am so thankful we took the time to take these pictures to have for the generations to come.

  1. love it! makes me wanna get my sisters in a picture, too... I know what you mean. The special love siblings have (ESP women - sisters!) for nieces/nephews in immeasurable. God is so good to give us the gift of siblings.

  2. Such beautiful ladies, inside, as well as out, I'm sure. May God Bless your beautiful mother for being open to God's gift of such lovely girls.
Having only 1 sister that is not close to me, I am a little jealous of your sisterly bond.
What a beautiful witness you are to God's many gifts.
God Bless you today and always Linsday.

  3. You are all so beautiful - most of these look like poses for a magazine!

My only sister is 14 yrs. older than I, with a very different personality conditioned by many difficult crosses she's had to bear. One of my best friends from back home has 4 sisters, and they became like my "in between" sisters :) Girl friends are such a blessing!

And ya gotta love those Irish genes - a bit o' the Blarney, have ye?

  5. My favorite is the close up one of all of you. So pretty! And I know what you mean - I am one of 5 (4 sisters and a brother) and I'm the oldest. We also have two step-sisters. And I love all of them. We are very close and they also love my children like no other. I always say that you can't understand loving another person's child like you love your own until you have nieces and nephews. I just got back from a big family reunion on my Dad's side (he's the oldest of 7) and I'm just in love with my family right now!

  7. Um, Lindsay, you look amazing! Your kids will love looking back on these photos of you girls together - my mom has six sisters, so I know from experience! ;) What a blessing to have so much family!

  8. What are you saying about Germans?! My German grandfather was a RIOT! So you won 100% comic gold with your half/half heritage :)

Also, you guys are crazy stunning. (I wonder how many curlers/curling irons/blow dryers went into the making of these photos?) :)

  9. You are all so beautiful! Your parents must be so proud. Siblings are a special blessing and I am always confused when people say more of them is not a good thing. Clearly all seven of you cherish each other dearly. This was a good thing for me to see today as I'm overwhelmed trying to paint my house while pregnant with twins and my three ages 4 and under tearing the place apart. They'll be adults someday!

  10. How lovely! I come from a family of two, just my brother and me, and I have to say that I feel a twinge of sadness when I see a big family like yours! I hope that my husband and I can give our daughter many siblings.

  12. I am guessing you already know about this but I thought of your son ( since you live in NE) when I saw this video as friends of ours came all the way from NH to allow their boys to attend this camp. "http://www.youtube.com/watch?client=mv-google&gl=US&hl=en&v=lxrzgj2mJxk&nomobile=1"
