Moving along..Where we have been

We have been praying for almost two years for guidance in our home buying decision. I knew God would provide when He saw fit. We looked at several homes last summer when my sister lived with us, but didn't find the changes in the homes we were after. We looked at a few during the winter and a few this past summer again, but nothing. At this point, I pretty much didn't think about it past my morning prayer to St. Joseph asking his intercession to put it on John's heart if he saw it part of God's will for our lives.

Two days before we had Kapaun, our realtor called to say that she had found "the one." We viewed the home that evening and agreed that it was perfect for our family, BUT I was due with our eighth child in a couple days and the timing was really bad. I knew there was no way to put our home on the market and get it ready to show plus have a new baby and all those adjustments.

After numerous conversations and prayers, we agreed that we would take the selling of our home as the go-ahead to buy the new home. We agreed to show the home only in bundled showings so the likelihood of it selling was low, in my opinion. For about two weeks, we ended up showing the home almost everyday and after two weeks I was ready to be done. John did all the work to get the home ready.  He didn't want me doing anything as Kapaun was only days old, but it just got to be too much. We decided to slow the showings down to just Sundays. Our realtor agreed, but asked if she could show it one more time that night and THAT WAS THE COUPLE WHO BOUGHT IT.
Big decisions like this are hard for us, but have found confidence that the doors kept opening even when we were ready to be done.  We have brought five babies home to this house on Duxhall Court.  I have watched my little ones grow up in this home so of course the emotional strings are very long.  We are completely grateful for our new home and know that God will continue to make His will known.
Kapaun of the day.  5 weeks old.
We closed on our new home November 22nd. A couple days later, I heard John shout, "Lindsay, Guess what?" He had found my remembrance calendar and discovered that November 22nd was the day my father came into the Catholic Church 3 weeks before his death. Coincidence, I think not? We asked his intercession many times as he was a realtor. I love God's little winks.

  2. Hey, random mom from Utah here... Love your blog. Your children are just beautiful. :) read your blog post about why some parents have two children. I didn't want to comment on that post because there were so many comments on it. Reading your post was God giving me a wink. Earlier today, my husband and I decided to start trying for number three. My pregnancies are really rough, but I felt it was time. I prayed to know if my decision and timing were right and within an hour, your post was on my Facebook timeline. Haha. I do want more children, but I've been a bit nervous from the so-called "big jump" from 2 to 3. Going to try and not let it scare me. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on baby #8.

  3. That's wonderful! Yes, we JUST were there ourselves... Ugh. 39 showings in 3months while 9.5mo pregnant with 2 under 3. Sold the house on a Sunday, went into labor during the inspection, and had to be out and packed up when the baby was 4weeks old. It was insane. I can't imagine doing that with 8 children. God bless you! I pray the move is seamless and you all stay healthy. I'll be praying for your family!

  6. Congratulations!!! I had missed more frequent posts, but now I understand just HOW busy you have been (I mean, on top of having a newborn, too!) I'd love to hear more about your new home, and what features you were looking for in a new house!

  7. We recently moved too and it really is amazing how things just fall into place when they are meant to be. After looking and looking for a new place (and the day after our 3rd St. Joseph novena ended) we saw a listing with just ONE picture and as soon as my husband saw it he said 'that's the one'...sure enough it was perfect and lo and behold we found a little St. Joseph statue hiding in a built-in. :)

  8. woohoo!! That is wonderful news!! I cried for at least an hour after we accepted a contract on our house- it was the house where I brought my babies home, but it was definitely time to move on. Another chapter for you and your family. God bless you!

  12. Hi Lindsey!
I'm a mom of 3 little boys (4,2,8 mo) from Minnesota and I have been a DEDICATED follower ever since discovering your blog 2 months ago. Now a lot of my friends are too :)
I'm so impressed by you and your beautiful family (and your beautiful faith!) that I have never commented before purely because I wouldn't know where to start. Your blog is such an answer to prayer for me because after much searching I have found my Titus 2 mother. You are my example and already a friend (kindred spirit, if you will). You are such an inspiration to me on your family's openness to life, your faith, your ability to raise children and tackle homeschooling (my goal).
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
    Betty K.

ps. You may be wondering why, now, am I commenting?? With this last post about you buying a new house (and especially your discernment process) I just couldn't stand it anymore and had to speak up. My family is also waiting, with a thin veneer of patience, to find the perfect home that the Lord has in mind for us. You waited beautifully for 2 years, you give me inspiration to do the same.
