January 1, 2014

We started off this NEW YEAR with several close friends and their children.  I got to hold Vianney asleep.  Kapaun, Damaris, and Clairvaux were home with Aunt Damaris so I was thankful for this gift.  I don't ever get to hold Vianney asleep.  John and I drove home with smiles on our faces and hearts filled with thanksgiving for the fun night. Friendship is such a gift.

St. Augustine's words on friendship came to my mind.

“What drew me closest to my brothers and sisters was the delight of chatting and laughing together, of showing our affection for one another by kindly services, of reading together from books that spoke of pleasant things, of joking together amicably, of disputing now and then but without resentment, as one is wont to do with himself, of awakening by rare contest the pleasure of being one in mind, of mutually instructing on another, of longing for the absent one, and tasting joy of his return.  We loved each other with all our hearts, and these marks of our friendship that were shown in our faces, by our voices, in our eyes and a thousand other ways, were among us like ardent flames that fused our soul together, and of many made but one.”

I have so many hopes and dreams for this year.  A fresh slate.

  1. Yes...friendship IS such a gift. Friends are priceless. And so are the wonderful memories that we make with them. So glad you were able to enjoy yourself tonight...and hold your precious Vianney like that. :)

You inspire me, Lindsey. Thank you.

  3. I have visited once before and truly think you have the most adorable family with all your "littles." Too sweet! I was reading that you have a "Rosie" - me too! It's her middle name and somehow she's been called Rosie since birth. Mine is just about 3yrs old and our youngest of ten "bigs"

I truly loved your quote. That is our home - filled with family, brothers and sisters, that are true friends. God is so good to pour His love onto us.

    Happy New Year!
