I haven't been busy.

My brother and I have a deal that we won't ever say to each other that we are busy.  Who isn't busy?  I've not met anybody who isn't so for that reason I can't say that I am.  Hopefully, I am doing what I am supposed to be doing and fulfilling all that God is asking of me.

All the single babies.  All the single babies. Now put your thumbs up.

Jack Sprat Could Eat No Fat.  His wife could eat no lean.  So between them both they licked the platter clean.

I read this little piece over at Conversion Diaries and loved the perspective it gave me on how to view my time as a mother and the work that I don't get done.  This is small excerpt from it:

"It occurred to me that Mother Teresa must have had more demands on her time than she could ever even come close to addressing — and considering the type of work she did, serving the poorest of the poor all over the world, she must have often felt daunted by how many important things needed to be done compared to how little she could do.
So I asked Fr. Langford: What did Mother Teresa do when it seemed that there was more work than she could possibly handle?
His response was simple and wise, and it marked a turning point in my life. In his reply to my email, he wrote:
The [work she could not get to] she did not think twice about, nor should you or I, since God is not asking you to do what He does not give you the time (or health, or resources) to do. So be at peace."
To be or Not To Be.

Relaxing with my roller skates on.

Although, we have seemed to be hip-hoppin' these last few weeks.  We drove down to Kansas to watch my sister play in the State Basketball Tournament.  We went to Omaha on annual big zoo trip.  Dominic turns 12-years-old tomorrow. That makes me want even more to drink in our time together.  Kapaun turned 6 months this week also.  Rose makes her First Holy Communion next Saturday.  I feel as though BIG milestones are happening left and right.  What a joy it is to be on this ride with them!

On the eve of his 12th birthday, I couldn't be more grateful for the time I have spent getting to know this child, watching him grow, and listening and conversing with him. I am grateful I haven't missed his life.

  1. As always, I love your perspective. Every day I fight a mental battle about what I think I should be doing. I have to stop and constantly remind myself to focus on what is in front of me, which is often a little 1 year old. This past year has flown by---I can only imagine how you feel about the last 12! So if I don't blog today, or clean under the sinks or write those letters. ..at least I read lots of stories and didn't pass up any snuggles. Thanks for the reminder that we're all busy, but can choose our priorities! Enjoy Dom's birthday and Rose's Communion celebrations! Oh--that pic of Damaris is hilarious---- our little guy loves the beat of Single Ladies but the words aretoo much, so we sing Silly Babies! And Kapaun really looks like Vianney now!!! Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Love, love, love this! Jen Fulwiler's post about Mother Teresa's Rule of Life inspired me to created our own Family Rule of Life. That's been part of my Lenten mission this year. Here's the link in case you'd like to see it: http://hallelujahismysong.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-5th-p-in-our-rule-of-life-provider.html It's teaching us to get done what needs to get done and forget about the rest. I hope you and your family are having a blessed Lent!
